I had a drive that was making a horrible noise. Replaced it that weekend (okay, I did wait until I had some time off). But the gist of it is: replace now, not later. After a day of watching it copy the old drive bit by bit, I had a new drive, no noise and the knowledge that had I waited perhaps even another day I would have lost years worth of data (I do back it up regularly, but you get the drift).
