DO NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES switch to Sprint. I apologize for the rudeness of my caps but I cannot express to you what a big mistake it will be for you to leave T-Mobile for Sprint. As a current Sprint customer and an ex-employee I can tell you that you will do nothing but regret switching to Sprint. I had my Treo 300 on the Sprint network for a few months and quite frankly it sucked.

From what I've heard and seen, T-Mobile's data service is no slower than Sprint's depending on where you are. Don't be fooled by any Sprint marketing. Furthermore, Sprint has the worst customer service of all the big cellular providers in the U.S. You can practically call Sprint and ask them and they'll tell you it's the truth. Their cellular division has undergone a lot of changes in the past year and a half and nothing has gotten better.

Thanks for the warning. I'll keep it in mind. About the data service, I'm not at all fooled by the marketing. I've used bandwidth testers and ping programs on both my Treo 270 and a friend's Treo 300. PCS Vision's latency is about half that of T-Mobile's GRPS (500ms vs 1000ms), and the speed is about four times faster (10KB/sec vs 2.5KB/sec). These things I'm very sure of.

I'm glad it is fast in your area. Down here in Orlando it's about the opposite. But then again, you are obviously much more interested in the data aspect of the service than I am. I'm actually considering the jump to T-Mobile, partly because of the service (it's pretty sweet in Florida) and I'm in love with the Color Sidekick. I think that's a nifty device and all the people I know who had the original Sidekick loved it. I'll have to drop by the T-Mobile store and see if I can play with one for real in the near future.

I also peeped the Treo 600 and was very enthused with the new design. Though it has no screen cover, it looks much more sturdy than the Treo 300. At this point, I don't see myself making much use of a PDA though. I would get the new Zaurus provided it could be synched with OS X but I doubt that's going to happen. C'est la vie.
