Woo! My new projector (Epson Home Cinema 1080UB) was picked up from the shipper today. I should have it tomorrow! (0)
I’ve had a real HDTV all of two days, and I’m already annoyed at HDCP issues. My cable box apparently cuts off the component output when an HDMI cable (which goes to the new TV in the bedroom) is connected. It doesn’t have to, this isn’t required by HDCP as far as I know. What this means, though, is that until I replace my projector and get an HDMI splitter/switch, I need to unplug the HDMI cable to watch TV on my projector. Thanks to HDCP, there’s no HDMI to component adapter, and the only component to HDMI adapter I can find costs $180. Then I’d still need the HDMI switch. Epson needs to release the damn Home Cinema 1080 UB already. (0)

Fox News Porn

NSFW? Every image in the video was on Fox News. I report, you decide. 🙂

Seriously…

They need to fix these fucking blackouts.

I’m sitting here watching Mets/Marlins, after the Marlins just scored a run in the 9th to tie it up. The next game scheduled for this channel, starting 2 minutes ago, is Dodgers/Diamondbacks, but the Mets game isn’t over. 1:30 hits, blackout starts, in the bottom of the 9th, in a tie game, in a game that shouldn’t be blacked out.

Fix this already!

Update: It only took an inning, but the Mets/Marlins game is back on. Still, they should just do away with the blackouts altogether. It’s not like they actually protect the local broadcasters anymore, or whatever they’re supposed to do.

Stupid Blackouts

Dear Fox and MLB,

Screw you and your Saturday afternoon national blackouts. It’s not going to make me watch whatever game happens to be on the local Fox station. Hell, the game I want to watch is on Fox in NY, but there’s no amount of money I can pay to anyone to let me watch it here. I guess I’m stuck listening on XM, where unlike MLBEI and MLB.tv (of which I have BOTH), I can actually get EVERY out of market game.

Sincerely,
Alan

Edit: The Angels/Mariners game is in rain delay, so for the time being I actually get to watch the game I want. Keep raining in LA Anaheim!

Fix the Blackouts Already

There’s no good reason for this. I have MLBEI (free preview), MLB.TV, and the game is on Fox. And I can’t watch it.

Mets/Braves is only on Fox for the eastern half of the country. The west coast gets Dodgers/Giants. That makes sense, but there’s no good reason the other game shouldn’t be accessible to the other part of the country somehow. Fox fucking sucks. They have national games today, so EVERY game that might be on at the same time is on national blackout on MLB.TV, and not on MLBEI.

I just want to watch my damn Mets games, I don’t care what channel it’s on or about protecting local markets. I want to watch my team.

They need to fix this shit already.

And, no, I’m not switching to DirecTV: HD Local Channels: High-definition (HD) local channels from DIRECTV are not available in your area at this time.

Also: Chan Ho Park? WTF!

Long Overdue Post

I have no excuse for why I haven’t really posted anything here for a while. As usual, a bunch of stuff to say, no motivation to do it.

First, I have started off my BlackBerry programming with two applications for the Pearl: AutoLock, which automatically activates the keyguard when the display idle timer kicks in to turn off the screen, and SoftReset which simply provides an easy way to reset the device without requiring a battery pull. They’re both free (but I take donations!) and can be found here: BlackBerry Software. Now that I’ve got things figured out, I’m definitely going to get started on some poker results tracking software soon.

Second… I have soft water at home! It rules. No more calcium deposits in the shower, in the sink, on the dishes, and shaving is soooo much more comfortable. Photoblog image here.

Third: 6 days until Pitchers and Molinas (er.. catchers)! 8 days before the Mets staff has to report.

Enough with the counting. Bowling has continued to go fairly well for me this year, though I did have a few off nights (503 over three games, 701 over four games), last night I had another good series:

X   X   X   X   819/9/X   6/XX9
306088107116135155175195224
9/8/X   X   X   X   X   X   7/8/X

X   X   X   X   X   X   9/9/9/9/8
306090120149169188207226244
Series: 711   Average: 237.0

Two months, two 700s. I’ll take that. Still looking for another honor score (298, 299, 300, 800, or 11 in a row), though. Also, had this a few weeks ago:

8/X   X   9/9/X   X   9/9/9/9
20496988108137157176195214
X   9/9/8/81X   9/X   X   X9-
2039577584104124154183202
X   X   X   X   X   X   7/X   7/X9/
306090120147167187207227247
X   X   X   X   9/X   X   X   8/7/9
306089109129159187207224243
Series: 906   Average: 226.5

I don’t often throw 900 over four games, though I’m sure I’ve done it a few times in the past. Very happy about it. The Palm Z22 is holding up very well for recording my bowling scores with Frames. The lower resolution doesn’t bother me at all for what I’m using it for, and the battery life is terrific. This week I plugged it in for the first time since I started using it at the bowling alley. That’s almost a month without a recharge.

I want an LED mooninite. I may have to resort to making my own. Might be fun. I’ll leave off with this video of a government agency trying to track down the mooninite terrorists:

Oh My…

Figuring all great Heroes need to have come from somewhere, the hit NBC series has tapped Star Trek icon George Takei to play the father of Hiro Nakamura, the plucky Japanese office worker who happens to be able to bend the space-time continuum.
