No response at all from AOL yet… I only filled out the online form. Maybe I’ll call them or something.

So how’d this work out?

Bleh… it’s a stupid service anyway. Some spammer prolly hacked your screen name. Just tell them to do a comparison on the IP hashes from the acct activity report and cross index it with other known spammers. Tell them to go back a few months and notice that the IP in question showed up all of a sudden.

PFFT. Watch they don’t even keep access logs…

Just because you’ve likely been compromised is not a reason for them to simply ban you. Good luck with this and please post an update thread I can link to on my blog. Oh and do a full spyware system test — your system might have something on it. Do you run Tea Timer? You should…

Same just happened to me after years with that service. Worst of all is that I have a lot of personal work files stored on the XDRIVE Service! I can’t believe this!

So are any of you using alternate programs to log onto AIM? I am using Adium via Mac. Just wondering if they are saying not using AIM is a violation of the Terms of Service.

They were fighting Trillian for awhile trying to prevent users from logging on through that program. Not sure how that worked out.

I’m hoping this issue is ended, had the screen name since 1998 or so!

yea im having the same problem
but i doubt running any type of antivirus or antispyware pograms will do much, because i cant log onto my screen name from other computers either
i feel the problem lies within AIM, because a lot of people have just experienced this at the same time

unless it is indeed a mass spammer making AIM think were violating our terms of service

Same here, i think its weird that it is at the same time. ive had it for 6 years and i have been using it the same way ive always been, which is within the terms, and they suspend my account today. It is not fun.

This happened to me about ten days ago. ACCOUNT SUSPENDED — for no reason. Really screws me up. I don’t use IM much (except to keep in touch with my aging mother), but years of ALL my important email and contacts is locked up on AOL’s servers. Another 2000 AOL jobs cut. They are no longer an ISP. NOW they’re a ADVERTISING company! AOL is down the toilet.

Same deal. I’ve had my screenname for years, never went out of the terms of service, and I was “suspended” today. I’m pretty pissed. I doubt any good will come from reporting this problem..

Well, the same thing happened to me- has anyone every resolved this issue using the form above? I don’t want to sit around and wait for a response when I could be doing something else about this. This sucks. I will defrinitely make a printout of all my contacts and use another service if this isn’t resolved soon. Their reasoning for this is bogus.

Actually, in the future I will make a printout of my contacts, so I’m not stuck again like this. I can’t make a printout now because the b#$%ards won’t let me in with my screen name. Isn’t their legal action we can take against someone who does this?

Looks like I am not the only one that got their Screen Name suspended. Mine got suspended last month when I moved. THat really pisses me off.I had that Screen Name for over 8 years. But my AIM page is still up. What is that for bullshit?! Can’t even find a Phone # to call. I called the UK and they found an phone# for the USA AOL. THey could not even find my Screen Name like it was never there. THey could not even help me to get my AIM Page of the web.

So it’s not just me? I canceled the paid account a year ago when I finally decided to switch to DSL, but the last few days, both my mom and I had trouble accessing our accounts. I changed my password which worked, then this afternoon, I find out two of the accounts have been temporarily suspended, and when I tried to get into the master account, which hasn’t been used since the Clinton administration lol. They asked the security question, which I tried to answer several times, and they blocked my account for 24 hours.

Whatever…AOL’s never cared about their customers to begin with. I’m sure a spammer has probably hacked my account, and if AOL’s suspending me over that, then I have a few other e-mail accounts through Hotmail and Yahoo.

Oh, and when I called the 800 number to get a little Tech Support, they told me they don’t have phone support for non-paying customers. Nice way to treat your customers, AOL.

Same problem here. Had my account since March 1999 … never had any problems. I switched to linux a year ago and use Pidgin as my service … all of the sudden last week I get suspended, I reset everything, and not even 24 hours later it happens again, this time, I can’t do anything. Filled out a report, no reply.

What the hell??? I have had this account forever! Never got spammed or anything! Now I have no email what so ever. Oh and HAHAHAHA to AOL for not answering any of my emails about some help from them. No wonder everyone is leaving AOL. They are horrible! I just want my damn email!!!!!

Wow! This is so funny, I just had this happen to my e-mail account darksidzz@aim.com and I too filled out the suspended form. I asked they forward me the e-mails/attachments in my Saved folder but I doubt I’ll get a reply from them. These pricks suspended my account because they didn’t like some comments I made on their News forums, well now I hate them with a passion. They are totally disgusting and go along with the status quo, they hate anything not normal.

Originally I posted stuff about people at NIU being whiney little babies for crying about the recent shootings, half those kids don’t even know the ones that died and yet are acting as if it was their own best friend. It’s a sick way to live and dishonors the real victims, the family and friends. They take airtime on TV and claim to have known the people vaguely or directly when infact they only think they did!

So yea I wrote about that and guess some loser users reported me, hence an instant suspension of my AIM account! wtf… AOL is a joke.

My AIM Account was suspended over a year ago. I was receiving so much spam mail, and AOL couldn’t help me solve the problem so I tried to solve it myself by bumping back the spam I was receiving back to the spammers. AOL took that…thought that I was spamming and suspended me. Funny thing is, it was the first time I had ever tried doing that.

WAY TO GET AROUND THE SYSTEM:

HOWEVER, I am still able to access my email because I had linked a few email addresses together including that one. Since my email address was linked to my other one, I can still receive mail. (I wasn’t able to send for almost a year, but it looks as though AOL has slowly but surely given me back access to my email so now I can send from it again.) I still can’t log in with that email address, it says it is suspended, but since the emails are linked, I don’t have to use a password to log in.

Hope this helps anyone!
